Type a lowercase letter in Alumni Sans SC and a small capital comes back, nearly as tall as the full capitals beside it, at a little over 4/5 of their height. That is the whole point of this version. It is the small caps edition of Robert Leuschke’s Alumni Sans, and it gives a headline or a label the even, all-capitals look with some up and down left in it.
The parent family started from the blackface Impact, and Leuschke kept going until it reached from a Black like its ancestor to a super Thin. The 2 extremes were intended for display and the weights between them for text.
18 styles, 9 weights each with an italic, and the italics hold the width of the roman. The set covers Western and Central European Latin, Vietnamese and Cyrillic. Being condensed, it fits long words into narrow columns, which is why sports graphics, menus and narrow posters suit it.
