Tai Viet has 31 consonants and 14 vowels, and it has been written since the 16th century across Vietnam, Laos, China and Thailand. It serves 5 languages: Tai Dam, Tai Dón, Tai Daeng, Thai Song and Tày Tac.
Monotype’s design team drew it for Google’s Noto as a plain, unmodulated sans covering all 82 characters of the Unicode block, with a Latin set alongside. It comes in a single Regular. The script needs software that supports complex text shaping, so try a paragraph in your layout program first, before a whole booklet depends on it.
