Spelling reform in Salt Lake

In 1854 George D. Watt developed an alphabet as part of a planned reform of English spelling. Deseret gave English a phonemic writing system, with capitals and lowercase like Latin, and members of the Church of Latter-Day Saints in Utah used it to write English. The plan didn’t last; by around 1877 it had been abandoned.

Noto Sans Deseret puts the alphabet into type for anyone quoting or studying those texts: 85 glyphs in Noto’s even, unmodulated style, drawn by the Monotype Design Team, with a Latin set alongside. 1 Regular.
