Switch a paragraph in Asap from Regular to Bold and not 1 line breaks differently. Every style shares the same character widths, italics included, so a button can go bold on hover without nudging its neighbors and a highlighted table row keeps its shape. Omnibus-Type built it that way for screen and desktop work.
The name stands for “as soon as possible”. Pablo Cosgaya and the Omnibus-Type team made it with Andrés Torresi, growing it out of Ancha, an earlier design by Cosgaya and Hector Gatti, and it went up on Google Fonts in January 2012. The corners are softly rounded.
It went variable in 2021, and in October 2022 the Google version gained a width axis, Condensed to Expanded, along with the full Thin to Black weight range. The static files here keep the weights, 9 of them each with an italic, and leave the width axis out.
Figures come 4 ways: lining, old style, proportional and tabular, with a slashed zero on top.
Dashboards and settings screens are where we would put it, labels and body text both.
