Take the brush out of Japanese handwriting and what remains is the skeleton. Yoshimichi Ohira did that for Zen Kurenaido, removing the brush-like elements and keeping only the bones of each character, so a line of it reads as if written with a ballpoint pen.
It belongs to Ohira’s Zen Fonts collection, next to its more formal mincho and gothic families. 1 Regular weight, close to 8,000 glyphs, with kana, kanji, Latin, Greek and Cyrillic.
A ballpoint hand suits a note better than a manual. Try it on a cafe menu or the speech bubbles of a comic, and leave the instructions to a gothic.
