Big, round and bold was the brief for Fredoka, a face to put some fun into a headline. Milena Brandão drew the original Latin, which started out as Fredoka One. Ben Nathan of Hafontia, the Israeli foundry that leads the project, drew the Hebrew later, so a Hebrew headline and an English one can come out in matching shapes.
Google added the expanded family in December 2021 as a variable font with a width axis next to the weight. This download is 5 static weights, Light to Bold.
Our pick for a kids’ app or a bakery sign would be Semi Bold. Light is an odd fit for a face meant to be bold; use it large, if at all.
