Parkinson’s UK, the charity, wanted a typeface of its own, and the London creative agency Red Stone made one by forking Poppins, the geometric sans from Indian Type Foundry. The result kept the geometric bones and picked up a handful of typographic quirks, which Red Stone meant as a nod to the way Parkinson’s plays out differently for every person who has it.
Its job is split in 2. At display sizes it has to grab attention for a campaign, and in short copy it has to stay accessible and easy to read. 6 weights, Light to Extra Bold, cover both.
If you know Poppins, the lowercase will look familiar, tall and round. Use the Medium for leaflet text and the Extra Bold for the big line on a fundraising poster.
