Decisions on Anek were taken by vote, majority or unanimous, among the 12 people at Ek Type, the Mumbai collective, who split its 10 scripts between them during lockdown.
Omkar Bhoir drew the Telugu you get here; Yesha Goshar drew the Latin. Shared rules came first, and after that each script was free to take influences from its own typographic culture and from whoever was drawing it, so the Telugu is a relative of the Tamil and the Odia in the family without looking borrowed from them.
Anek Telugu comes in 8 weights from Thin to Extra Bold. The heavy end is where the family gets its edge, with sharp terminals and tapered joins inside otherwise disciplined shapes, so we would put the Bold and Extra Bold on headlines and wordmarks and keep Regular for interface text. Tabular figures and a slashed zero are in there for prices and codes.
