Stories from the old market
Straight lines do almost all the work in Sankofa Display. Batsirai Madzonga drew on African art styles, several traditions at once, and narrowed the borrowing down to their straight-line geometric designs, so the letters read as built more than written.
It came out in 2024 as a single style with over 1,000 glyphs, Vietnamese included. It holds more than a display face usually carries, with tabular figures and a slashed zero, which would let it handle a date or a price on a poster without borrowing from another font. Narrow-ish proportions help it fit a long title.
