Lontara, the Buginese script, has been written in Sulawesi since the 17th century for the Bugis, Makasar and Mandar languages, which together have over 7 million speakers. During Dutch colonial rule the Latin alphabet pushed it aside for most purposes, but it is still kept for ceremonial, personal and traditional writing.
The font is small, which suits the script. The Unicode block has 39 characters, and the Monotype Design Team drew them for Google’s Noto as an unmodulated sans. There is 1 Regular style. A wedding invitation in Lontara, or a page of a primer, is a likely home for it.
