Section 4.2: Setup notes

Gidole is a small mountain town in southern Ethiopia, and Andreas Larsen, who grew up there, named his first font after it. The design is a humanist, pared-down variation on DIN 1451. His only request, if you end up liking it, is a donation to the Ethiopian Red Cross Society.

There is only a Regular, but it is well stocked: 7 stylistic sets, discretionary ligatures, a slashed zero, fractions, superscripts and subscripts, and 796 characters that reach Greek, Cyrillic and Vietnamese. Google added it in February 2025.

Documentation and slide decks suit it, places where 1 weight is enough and a DIN flavor does no harm.
