In Hind Vadodara the Gujarati base characters stand at about the visual height of the Latin capitals, and as the weight goes up they grow a little taller against those caps, the same way the Latin lowercase gains height. The Indian Type Foundry scaled the 2 scripts against each other that carefully so a bilingual line looks balanced at every weight.

Hitesh Malaviya designed it for ITF, which published it in 2015 and named it after Vadodara, a city in Gujarat. It is the Gujarati member of the Hind Multi-Script project, whose 9 matching families cover the scripts of Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

Hind was built for user interfaces. The letters have a humanist construction with strokes that look monolinear, and most of those strokes end flat, cut horizontally or vertically, hardly ever on a slant, which keeps the spaces between characters clean. Apertures and counters are open. ITF filled the set with many Gujarati conjuncts for full coverage of the language, and the Latin follows the Adobe Latin 3 set for English and Western European text.

There are 5 weights, Light to Bold. Use the Regular for app text and forms in Gujarati, the Semi Bold and Bold for labels. On screen it is a safe, legible pick.
