The typofactur description calls Winky Sans the sober, grown-up relative of Comic Sans, and the comparison is fair as far as it goes. It is informal and friendly. It is not silly.
Simon Atzbach started from Aniva Sans, rounded and thickened the stroke endings, and then added small irregularities on purpose so the letters feel written by hand. The interesting part comes when you move through the weights. As the weight climbs the ink spreads in every direction, so the Light reads like a fineliner and the Black like blots from a pen that has broken. That is a warning as much as a feature. The Black suits a 3-word sticker and would be heavy going in a paragraph.
There are 14 styles, 7 weights each with an italic. Latin only, with the extended accents.
