Gayathri goes from a Thin at 100 to a Bold at 700 with a Regular between, and the Malayalam was the point of all 3. Binoy Dominic designed it with SMC for headlines, posters, titles and captions, the places where a script with this many rounded forms can be shown large and with some contrast between weights.

The Latin alphabet comes along so that a mixed line does not need a second font, and the file adds stylistic alternates for the odd letter that needs another shape.

It has been on Google Fonts since June 2019. We would try the Thin big on a book cover or poster, where its hairline strokes have space, and keep the Bold for short headings.
