The name comes from the asterisk, which sits at ASCII code 42, and the team behind it is called 42dot, so the pun works in both directions.
Asta Sans mixes straight lines with gentle curves, and the spaces inside the letters lean toward squares, a boxy and orderly interior. 6 weights, Light to Extra Bold, cover Korean and Latin, more than 12,000 glyphs in each file. Tabular figures and fractions are in there for dashboards and price lists, plus a single stylistic set.
42dot says it was built for long passages and short labels both. We would trust it more with the second, on app screens and signs, where those square counters keep small type open.
