Stop the presses tonight
Blackout started with a pen and a newspaper. Tyler Finck took sans-serif headlines and filled them in, then built a typeface from scratch out of the idea in 2008, working in Illustrator and FontLab Studio.
The family has 3 members. Midnight is the solid one and Sunrise is drawn in outline. Two AM, this file, is reversed, the letters turned light against a dark ground.
The League of Moveable Type distributes all 3. The set is 100 characters, the basic alphabet with figures and the common punctuation, no accented letters. Keep it to a word or 2 at poster size.
