“Build a complete font in 1 hour” was the challenge Ralph du Carrois set himself, playing with the artistic brushes in Adobe Illustrator. By his own account it took a little longer than that to become a working typeface. The brush texture stayed.

The letters are fat and wide with a very big lowercase, so a short word fills a lot of space. A poster for an art class or a label on a jar of paint would suit it. Du Carrois finished the drawing in December 2011, and Andreas Eigendorf mastered it for release the following September, on the same day as ABeeZee from the same studio.

Carrois Apostrophe’s usual work is language extensions and corporate type, Fira for Mozilla with Erik Spiekermann among it, so this one looks like a holiday. 1 style, basic Latin.
