Latin type has a habit of upright italics, letters with italic shapes that do not lean. Langar follows it loosely in its Latin and tries the same approach on Gurmukhi, which is new ground for that script.
Alessia Mazzarella designed it at Typeland as an informal, playful display face in 1 weight, with the 2 scripts drawn to sit together. Most fonts for Latin and Gurmukhi are text faces; Langar is meant as the contrasting second voice at large sizes, for bilingual posters and packaging. Contextual alternates, a stylistic set and discretionary ligatures are tucked in.
