LATE EDITION SOLD OUT
There are no holes in this font. Every counter, the bowl of a B, the eye of an A, the middle of an O and a D, is filled in solid, which is how Tyler Finck got the idea: filling in sans-serif newspaper headlines with a pen.
Midnight is the solid member of Blackout. Its 2 sisters are 2 AM, which is reversed, and Sunrise, which is stroked. Finck drew the design from scratch and The League of Moveable Type publishes all 3.
It is capitals only. Type lowercase and you get the same capitals back, so there is no need to worry about case. With the counters gone, readers recognize each letter by its outline alone, and that works for a word or 2 set very large and starts failing in a full sentence. The face also runs wide, so a short word takes plenty of room.
