Hand-painted lettering on Indian trucks is the source here. Ek Type turned it into a color font, using the COLRv1 and CPAL tables, so the colors and shadows come built into the font.
Noopur Datye and Yesha Goshar designed it. Sidharth Jaishankar and Girish Dalvi did the engineering, Athul Jayaraman drew the emojis, and Taresh Vohra handled testing with the rest of Ek Type.
On Google Fonts, where it arrived in November 2023, Honk is a modular variable system with 10 styles, shadows and several color palettes to switch between. The download on this page is the Regular.
Use it big and use it sparingly. A word or 2 on a poster will carry a whole layout; a paragraph of it will give anyone a headache. Check that the app you design in renders COLRv1 color fonts before you commit to it.
