Letters home from Tainan
Iansui goes in first. LXGW made Fusion Kai by merging existing fonts with the Warcraft Font Merger tool, and the order of the merge decides which shape wins when 2 sources draw the same character differently. For the T version Iansui comes first and LXGW WenKai GB Lite fills what is left, so where a character has a form taught in Taiwan’s schools, that is the form you get.
LXGW counts the whole project as a derivative of Klee One, a Japanese font by Fontworks. Sister versions exist: J leans on Klee One for Japanese forms, and a G version for mainland forms has been folded into WenKai GB Lite.
22,393 characters, 1 Regular style, and the coverage goes wider than Chinese, with kana, Bopomofo, Lisu, Greek, Cyrillic and Vietnamese. Fractions, a slashed zero, superscripts and subscripts are in the OpenType list.
A note on the version, 24.134. LXGW numbers releases by year and day of the year, so this build is from May 13, 2024. The repository has since been archived.
