Lobster, Pablo Impallari’s fat connected script, has been on Google Fonts since 2010, and Galada asks what it would look like in Bengali. The Latin here is Lobster itself. The Bengali is new, drawn at Black Foundry in Paris as a studio effort by Jeremie Hornus, Yoann Minet and Juan Bruce, with the foundry’s copyright dated 2015.
Carrying Lobster over took real work. Bengali needs conjuncts, the reph, half forms and below-base forms, all handled by the standard Indic shaping features, on top of matching the chunky, looping look of the Latin.
1 Regular, with 1 stylistic set. Put it on a sweet shop’s box or a Durga Puja poster, where Bengali and English share the same bold voice.
