Names stitched along the border
Heinrich Kuehn drew a needlepoint alphabet in Berlin around 1880, letters in a bastarda manner meant to be stitched square by square. Sarah Cadigan-Fried revived it, expanded it, and put it into her Soft Type Collection for knitters under the name Jacquarda Bastarda.
The 9 is the cap height counted in stitches, so a capital fills 9 rows of a chart. This is the Charted cut, and a plain Jacquarda Bastarda 9 sits beside it in the collection.
A monogram on a sweater cuff or a name worked into a blanket border is the scale it lives at.
