Inscriptions from Hatra
People living around Hatra, in what is now northern Iraq, wrote their dialect of Aramaic in this script between 98 BCE and 240 CE. Hatran is an abjad, written right to left, and the font supports 31 characters from its Unicode block.
The Monotype design team drew it as a plain unmodulated sans for Google’s Noto collection. Latin letters come with it too. 1 Regular, on Google Fonts since November 2020, and mostly of use to scholars and museums.
