Rum Raisin keeps a spare a where the Greek Delta (Δ) should be, the unicase a from the original lettering, and it is a leftover from the source. Brian Bonislawsky found the lettering on an old Kellogg’s Raisin Bran cereal box, where it was unicase, small and capital letters mixed at 1 height, and when he turned it into a normal font with capitals and lowercase he parked the original a in that slot as an alternate.
Bonislawsky trades as Astigmatic, short for Astigmatic One Eye Typographic Institute, and vintage advertising and signs are where he says most of his ideas start, always on paper before the computer. Rum Raisin is narrow and friendly, made for a box front or a shop window. 1 Regular weight.
