If your Latin is already Open Sans, Khula is the Devanagari that was made for it. Steve Matteson’s Open Sans supplies the Latin letters here, and Erin McLaughlin, a type designer in Wichita, drew a contemporary Devanagari for Hindi to sit beside it, with Fiona Ross and Tobias Frere-Jones credited for guidance and training along the way.

It came out on Google Fonts in January 2015 in 5 weights: Light, Regular, Semi Bold, Bold and Extra Bold. The character set is lean, 244 characters, and kerning is its only OpenType feature, a plain working text face with nothing ornate about it. Use Regular for paragraphs on a Hindi website and Bold for the headings, and the English bits in between will match without any effort from you.
