Stick and tar. That is what the wall graffiti in Bengal behind Alkatra was painted with, and Suman Bhandary kept the blobby blackness of those letters when he turned them into type.
There are 4 scripts, Bangla, Devanagari, Odia and Latin, each drawn with that wall lettering in mind. Bhandary led the design and the idea, Lewis McGuffie drew the Latin, and Nehal Mathews and Lopamudra Bose helped with the Odia and Devanagari.
4 weights, Regular to Bold. It was made for display, so think of a festival banner, a street food menu or a film title in Bangla. Not a paragraph.
