Bengali first, Latin alongside. Atma’s primary script is Bengali, and its 2 alphabets grew up together. Jeremie Hornus, Gregori Vincens, Yoann Minet and Roxane Gataud developed them in parallel as a studio collaboration at Black Foundry, the Paris type foundry that leads the project, and the tone they were after is fun and informal.

5 weights run from Light at 300 to Bold at 700, upright only, with kerning and 1 stylistic set in the OpenType tables. 432 characters per style.

We think it does its best work on a bilingual poster or a picture book where the Bengali and the English have to look like they belong to the same family. A bank statement would be the wrong place for it. Google Fonts has carried it since 2017.
