Count the dots. Every letter in Array sits on a grid, the capitals 10 dots tall, the x-height letters 8, the ascenders 11, with descenders dropping 2 below the line. Frode Helland, a Norwegian designer, kept the dot the same size in every weight, so the Semibold and Bold get heavier by widening their stems from 2 dots to 3 and then 4. Each weight also has a Wide version, which mostly adds air around the letters.
This download is the Regular. Helland’s dot matrix works on a poster, and the foundry suggests real electronic displays too, a nice thought for a station sign or a gadget’s start screen.
