Cooper Black is the font Caprasimo was built to cover for. When an Office document asks for Cooper Black on a computer that lacks it, Caprasimo fills the gap with spacing close enough that the text barely moves, part of the DocRepair project’s work on files in the ISO/IEC 29500 format.

Its shapes come from Fraunces, the soft old-style display serif that Phaedra Charles and Flavia Zimbardi of Undercase Type modeled on the mannerisms of early 20th-century faces, the Cooper series among them. So the stand-in has the right ancestry.

1 wide Regular, 248 characters and kerning, added to Google Fonts in June 2023. Outside document repair it makes a poster or packaging face, set big.
