Square letters with their corners cut at an angle give Chakra Petch a technical air, and yet the Thai side keeps the traditional looped letterforms of the script. Cadson Demak made it as a Thai and Latin family in 2018.
There are 5 weights, Light to Bold, each with an italic, 10 styles in all, and the italics hold exactly the same width as the romans, so switching styles never reflows a line. 725 characters cover Thai alongside Latin with Vietnamese.
The designers say it works in print as well as on screen. We’d put it on an esports overlay or a motor show poster, where the angles read as speed, and use the Light for Thai subheads.
