A Note On The Page

Cherish · Regular

A short letter, set in the family.

Thursday afternoon

Dear Alex,

I left the book by the window. There is a note on page twenty-three that I thought you would like. Bring it along on Thursday; we can finish the conversation over coffee.

See you there.

Slow mornings, warm bread

Robert Leuschke drew Cherish as a dry brush script with a particular pairing in mind: a caption or a short phrase in Cherish set beside a clean modern sans, the script doing the expressive part and the sans everything else.

The letters are squeezed tight. A line of Cherish takes barely more than half the width the same words need in Arial, so a whole phrase fits where most scripts would manage a word or 2, and the lowercase sits low under tall capitals. Give it size.

The design goes back to 2004 at TypeSETit, Leuschke’s own foundry, years before it reached Google Fonts. 1 style, with Western and Central European accents and Vietnamese.
