DM Sans starts from Poppins. Colophon Foundry took the Latin of Indian Type Foundry’s geometric sans as its base and reworked it into a low contrast design meant for smaller text sizes.
18 styles are in this download, Thin to Black with an italic for each, and 8 stylistic sets hold alternate letters. A May 2023 update gave the variable version an optical size axis and stretched its weight range up to 1000.
Language support stops at Latin Extended, English and the Western European languages. Product sites and app copy, at the small sizes it was drawn for, are its natural ground.
