The classic grotesques were the starting point, and Alfredo Marco Pradil, who leads the project at Hanken Design Co., has since updated a good deal of it: the geometry, the metrics, the punctuation and the OpenType features have all been revised with real jobs in view. His list of those jobs is long. Signs in a building, text in books and magazines, app screens and websites.

That spread shows in the family. 9 weights from Thin to Black, each with an italic that keeps almost exactly the width of its upright, and 3 stylistic sets for swapping in alternate letters.

We would put it on a wayfinding system first. A grotesque with this many weights can do the big arrow sign in Bold and the small print in Regular without changing voice.
