There is not a single curve in Kumar One. Where a bowl or a shoulder would normally swing round, Parimal Parmar broke it into short straight facets, so an o turns into a little polygon and the Gujarati letters get the same treatment, every round part chopped into flat sides.
Kumar comes as a pair. In Kumar One Outline the thick strokes are drawn as 2 parallel lines with white between them, and the thin upstrokes and horizontals are single lines. Kumar One fills that white in. What is left is very dark on the downstrokes, hairline on the rest, and in our view that contrast is the whole show.
Parmar sized the 2 scripts against each other. The Gujarati base letters stand at 85% of the Latin capital height, which lets them sit with Latin lowercase on the same line, and the Gujarati vowel signs are kept to single thin strokes. Indian Type Foundry in Ahmedabad released it in 2016.
It is a wide face, 1 Regular weight, and it needs size. A shop sign, a garba night poster.
