A Japanese rounded gothic that also speaks Hebrew is not something you meet every day. M PLUS Rounded 1c packs kana and kanji, Latin with Vietnamese, Greek, Cyrillic and Hebrew into 8,201 characters, every stroke end softened to a round cap.
Coji Morishita and the M+ Fonts Project are behind it, and the rounded version arrived on Google Fonts in May 2018. The weights are what make it useful in practice. There are 7 of them, Thin, Light, Regular, Medium, Bold, Extra Bold and Black, so a single family can run the whole hierarchy of an app screen, from a hairline caption to a heavy title.
Our view: the Black is where the rounding shows best, chunky and friendly on a poster or a packet. For paragraphs of Japanese at small sizes the Regular and Medium hold up better than the lighter end.
