For years there was only Merienda One, a single bold style. Eduardo Tunni put that out first and came back in September 2022 to make the family variable, 7 styles from Light at 300 through Black at 900, and widened the character set while he was at it so more languages are covered. Vietnamese is in the current set.
The name is the Spanish word for the afternoon snack, and Tunni thought that time of day deserved its own lettering. Fair enough. The strokes look brushed and the shapes are soft, with a rhythm made for short reads, a menu board or a pull quote. A long article set in it would tire anyone out.
The lowercase is big against the capitals, which helps it on a small label. Try the Semi Bold for a menu header with the Light underneath for the prices. Contextual alternates are built in.
