Letters from old Hyderabad, Sindh
Sindhi has been written in more than 1 script, and Khudawadi was among them.
It is an Indic abugida, written left to right, that served the Sindhi language in the Sindh province of Pakistan and in India. Sindhi itself has around 20 million speakers today, but they no longer write it this way: in Pakistan Khudawadi gave way to Nastaliq, and in India to Devanagari.
Noto Sans Khudawadi is Google’s Noto design for it, an unmodulated sans drawn by the Monotype design team, with the Common Indic Number Forms block alongside. The script needs complex text layout, so the software you set it in has to handle shaping before the text will come out right.
There is a single Regular and a Latin to go with it. For a heritage project or a paper on Sindhi writing, that covers the need.
