Mru villages in the hills
Mru folklore says the people once had a book of writing sent down from heaven, and that a cow ate it. In the 1980s Menlay Murang, also known as Manley Mro, a Bangladeshi man who also founded the Khrama religion, gave the Mru language a new script, and the story is part of why that script carries so much weight for its readers.
Mro is a plain alphabet of 31 letters, 23 consonants and 8 vowels, written left to right with spaces between words. There are no tone marks and no combining characters to stack. It has its own digits and 2 punctuation marks, the danda and the double danda.
The Monotype Design Team drew this Noto version, 1 Regular, with Latin and Latin Extended added for notes and translations.
