Lessons in Manding, chapter 2
N’Ko means “I say”. Solomana Kante gave the alphabet that name when he created it in 1949 for the Manding languages of West Africa, and he built it with 19 consonants, 7 vowels and 8 diacritics, written right to left.
Noto Sans NKo is the text version in Google’s Noto collection, a plain unmodulated sans by the Monotype Design Team. It covers 79 characters across the N’Ko block and part of the Arabic block, with Latin added for mixed passages. There is 1 Regular style; for headings in more than 1 weight, look at its sibling, Noto Sans NKo Unjoined. Google Fonts added this one in 2020.
