Rovás carved on a village sign
Rovás never quite died. Hungarians wrote their language in this runic script from the 9th to the 11th century, possibly earlier, until the Latin alphabet replaced it everywhere except some religious texts. Then from the 15th century onward small circles picked it up again, and they still use it today.
That long afterlife gives the font a use beyond research. The Monotype Design Team drew it for Google with even strokes, and because rovás uses ligatures, standard and discretionary ligatures are both built in. Direction is your call, since the script was written left to right or right to left, and you will need an app with complex text shaping.
