It looks like cuneiform, yet Ugaritic is an alphabet, an abjad of 30 letters, read left to right, and it was in use in what is today Syria from about 1500 to 1300 BCE, for the Ugaritic language and for Hurrian as well.

The Monotype Design Team drew the 36 Ugaritic glyphs here for Google’s Noto collection, in even strokes, and added Latin for transliteration and commentary. If you are typesetting a grammar or an excavation report, set the Ugaritic a size larger than the Latin around it; the wedge shapes need the extra room to stay distinct.
