Palette Mosaic

Every letter of Palette Mosaic is assembled from primitive shapes, arranged by disabled artists working together with design students. It comes from the Shibuya Font project, which pairs those 2 groups in Tokyo’s Shibuya city, with the city’s official backing, and turns what they make into type.

The result is solid and very wide, close to half again as wide as Arial for the same words. Kana and Latin share 289 characters in a single Regular, added to Google Fonts in April 2021.

A shop sign or a logo gets the most out of it. Past a few words, the line runs out.
