Playwrite HR Guides · Regular
A short letter, set in the family.
Thursday afternoon
Dear Alex,
I left the book by the window. There is a note on page twenty-three that I thought you would like. Bring it along on Thursday; we can finish the conversation over coffee.
See you there.

Croatia’s school handwriting was standardized fairly recently. In 2007 the Ministry of Education backed a set of research projects on teaching the Croatian language, and 1 of the results was a handbook on handwriting by Ante Bežen and Siniša Reberski, which has shaped how it is taught since 2013. First graders learn print-style letters, matching them to sounds. From second grade on, they have to write in rukopisno pismo, a continuous cursive joined all the way through.
This is that cursive, by Veronika Burian and José Scaglione at TypeTogether, with the lines of a school exercise book printed under each character: baseline, x-height, and the limits for ascenders and descenders. The spaces are the exception. Hit the underscore and only the empty ruling prints, a word space wide, so a worksheet can have blank lines for copying.
1 Regular weight. The plain version without guides is Playwrite HR.
