Buongiorno from the piazza
Most scripts carry their weight evenly or lean it toward the top. Molle sits it at the bottom, so the lower half of each letter carries most of the ink. Elena Albertoni took the idea from lettering she saw on an Italian poster and published the font through Eben Sorkin’s foundry, Sorkin Type Co.
There is only 1 style, and it is an italic, with no upright partner. Contextual alternates help the letters fall into each other.
Google added it in September 2012 and files it as both display and handwriting. Albertoni recommends medium to large sizes, and that is right; at 36 px and over it looks good on a trattoria menu header or painted on a shop window.
