A German t you can write without lifting the pen is the giveaway in Playwrite DE SAS. SAS stands for Schulausgangsschrift, 1 of the 3 joined hands most German states let teachers pick from, the others being Lateinische Ausgangsschrift and Vereinfachte Ausgangsschrift. Germany leaves handwriting to its states, and none of them asks children to copy the model exactly; the aim is a personal, connected hand by the end of 4th grade, at 10 or 11.

Veronika Burian and José Scaglione’s version for TypeTogether has a medium slope, short extenders and a slow, deliberate stroke. The capitals stay restrained, only a few of them with any cursive flourish. Down in the lowercase the ascenders and descenders are looped, m, n and r start with a curved entry, and the f drops a straight descender with no loop at all, while r and z take an italic build.

4 weights from Thin to Regular, and a Guides sibling with the writing lines drawn in. For a card to Oma or a classroom poster we would use Light or Regular, since Thin goes pale once there is more than a line of it.
