Skate park opens at dawn
Every letter in Rubik Spray Paint was sprayed with its own random seed, so no 2 letters come out sprayed quite alike.
The filter behind it, written by NaN in Berlin, pulls each Rubik outline slightly inward, smooths the bigger shapes, and then fires thin spikes outward at random lengths set by a noise function. That bristly fringe is what reads as aerosol at a distance.
Underneath is ordinary Rubik, with Latin, Cyrillic and Hebrew, and even the figures, fractions and slashed zero survived the treatment. Luke Prowse’s series joined Google’s library in waves, and this one came in November 2022.
Hold it to big sizes on a dark background, where the fuzz has room. On a busy photo it gets lost.
