Thunder warning for tonight

The texture on Rubik Storm is the output of a filter. NaN, the Berlin studio, wrote a set of filters for the Glyphs font editor, many of them using Simplex noise, and ran Rubik’s outlines through them. Rubik itself came from Hubert and Fischer, with Meir Sadan and Cyreal; Storm is what came out of 1 filter. The code is public, and Simon Cozens reviewed it.

Because it is generated from Rubik, it inherits the full character set, Cyrillic and Hebrew alongside Latin. Luke Prowse of NaN is credited with the design.

Storm arrived on Google Fonts in the same batch as Rubik Vinyl, Rubik Gemstones, Rubik Spray Paint and Rubik 80s Fade, part of a series of filtered Rubiks that started with Rubik Beastly. Use it big. At small sizes a texture like this turns to noise.
