Water festival on the river
Headlines, titles, subtitles and the occasional banner, all in Khmer: that was Danh Hong’s brief for Koulen, and the font keeps to it. You get a single Regular with 203 characters, the Khmer letters and digits plus a basic Latin, and kerning with an alternates feature in its OpenType tables.
It joined Google Fonts in March 2011. For running text you would pair it with a quieter Khmer body face and let Koulen take the poster and the chapter opener.
