Sentient was drawn for immersive reading, the hours-long kind, and Noopur Choksi built it sturdy on purpose. The letters are a little wide and solidly made so they survive bad printing and still read well on a screen. Barbara Bigosinska is credited alongside Choksi, and the Indian Type Foundry put it on Fontshare in March 2021.
Some of the details are fun to find. A stylistic set swaps in an M with straight sides, another gives the Q a long tail, and there are 14 f-ligatures in each font. Figures default to proportional lining digits, with old style ones a switch away for running text.
The full family goes from Extralight to Bold with italics, and the italics have their own ideas, a g with a closed lower bowl and a differently drawn ampersand. This page carries the Regular. For body text on screen, 16 px is enough.
